How do you learn addition facts?

Students learn addition as they begin to understand numbers and counting.  They first learn that addition is the process of combining numbers.  Having an understanding of what addition means will help your child as they begin to memorize addition facts. The use of objects as visual examples will help your child to master these concepts and will reinforce the commutative property of addition.  The commutative property means that 3 + 5 = 8 and 5 + 3 = 8.  Helping your child to become familiar with addition charts as another way to understand how the operation of addition can be applied to numbers.
