How do you teach kids opposite words?

Learning about opposites is an important concept for kids and gives them descriptive language to communicate about the world around them.  Many opposites can be demonstrated with flash cards such as big/small.  Show your child a picture that has a large and small animal side by side.  When working with your child, use movement and games to reinforce the concept of opposites.  For example, if you are practicing stop/go, have your child walk around the room until you say stop.  Or play a game like Simon Says using opposite actions like stand up/sit down or inside the room/outside the room.
