What is the best way to teach multiplication facts?

The best way to teach multiplication facts is to break the learning into sections that are manageable for your child.  Learning multiplication facts is a big step for students and is the foundation for more advance math skills. Students can quickly learn their 0’s and 1’s. Every number multiplied by 0 equals 0, and each number multiplied by 1 equals that number. They can then progress to the numbers that are simple to count by. For example, students typically already understand how to count by 2’s, 5’s, 3’s, and 10’s. This helps them to understand how multiplication can be represented by repeated addition; for example, 2 x 4 is the same as 4 + 4. Using arrays or groups of objects can give students a visual understanding of this same concept. Two groups of four objects are the same as four groups of two objects.
