How many letters should an 18 month old know?

18 month old children can begin to recognize letters and sounds.  Exposure to early letter fluency will help to lay the foundation for learning the alphabet as they continue to grow and develop.  Your 18 month old can begin to learn by practicing with colorful flash cards and singing alphabet songs.  Spend time each day showing your child letters as you play, read, and complete activities throughout your day.
