How many letters should a 3 year old recognize?

Your 3 year child may be able to recognize most of the letters and sounds in the alphabet.  This early learning will build the foundation your child will need for reading and spelling as they continue to grow.  Young children will learn letters at their own pace.  Set aside time each day to read with your child and practice with bright and colorful flash cards.  Your child will quickly be on their way towards recognizing all 26 letters of the alphabet.
