How do you teach sight words?

You can point to a word in a simple text or story written by a student and have them say it when reading to connect the print to what’s heard. Introduce one word and have that child say (i.e., read) it in subsequent print or with flashcards until mastery. Provide opportunities to read/ write the word many times. When learned, create a word wall that lists the word learned in large print. Use music and games formats (e.g., BINGO─sight words, Concentration, Go Fish, word searches) or try different mediums to spell words with letter magnets, colored chalk/markers, sand writing, etc.
